Keyword Monitoring
Know the moment the words that matter leave a page - or the ones you dread show up on it.
- Phrases, parts of words, any language
- Alerts when a keyword disappears, or appears
- Checked every minute, or every 5 on the free plan
Every page, and the words that should be on it
- 1
Catch a broken page that still loads
A page can answer perfectly and be wrong. The words on it tell you.
- 2
Watch what earns you money
Prices, stock, the sign-up button - checked on every page that sells.
- 3
Spot trouble the page announces
Error messages and warnings, the moment they appear.
Checked from around the world
A page can show one thing in one country and another elsewhere. Mon reads yours from around the world, so a change in one place doesn't go unseen.
7 locations, 4 continents
North and South America, Europe and Asia, so an outage in one region doesn't go unseen in another.
Placed for you, or by you
Mon spreads each monitor's checks itself, or you choose the locations it checks from.
Addresses you can allowlist
Every location's IP addresses are published in your account, ready for your firewall.
The words, watched properly
Mon reads your page the way a visitor does, and tells you the moment it says something it shouldn't - or stops saying something it should.
Hear when the words go
When a keyword leaves the page, Mon tells you straight away - and again when it's back - wherever your team will see it.
- By email, in Slack or to your own webhook
- SMS on paid plans
- Alerted only after the failed checks in a row you chose
Find it the way a reader would
Mon searches the text a visitor reads, so your keyword matches however it's written into the page.
- Whole phrases, or part of a word or code
- Any language, accents and all
- The raw HTML instead, when you need it
Or when they appear
Turn a monitor around and it alerts you the moment a word shows up - the error, the warning, the thing that should never be there.
- Error messages and maintenance notices
- "Out of stock" on the pages that sell
- Signs of a defaced page
Watch a hundred pages at once
Paste a list of URLs - one per line, or straight from a spreadsheet - with the words to look for, and get a monitor for each.
- The same keyword on every page
- Pages you already watch are skipped
- https:// added where it's missing
Works with the tools you already use
On Enterprise plans, connect your registrar or DNS host once and Mon imports every domain it finds, picking up new ones as you buy them. On every plan, hear about them where your team already talks.

Frequently asked questions
Everything about watching the words on your pages.
What is keyword monitoring?
It is a service that reads a web page on a schedule and checks that the words you care about are still on it - a price, "In stock", your sign-up button - or that words you don't want, like an error message, haven't appeared. A page can load perfectly and still be broken; a keyword check notices.
Is keyword monitoring free?
Yes. Mon's free plan includes 5 monitors checked every 5 minutes, and each page you watch uses one. Paid plans start at 10 monitors and check as often as every minute.
How does Mon look for the keyword?
It fetches the page and searches the text a visitor reads - not the code, scripts or the page title - for your keyword as a whole phrase or part of a word, in any language. Case is ignored unless you ask for it to match. To search the page's HTML as it comes, the title and attributes included, turn on the raw search instead.
Can I be alerted when something appears?
Yes. Turn a monitor around and it's up while the keyword is absent, and alerts you the moment it shows up - an error message, "Out of stock", or a defacement.
Can I monitor an API or JSON response?
Yes. Point a monitor at the URL and look for the value you expect; the raw search reads the response exactly as it comes back. On paid plans a monitor can also send its own headers and sign in.
Does Mon see text added by JavaScript?
No - keyword checks read the page as the server sends it, without running scripts. If text only appears after the page's JavaScript runs, look for something in the page's source instead.
What if the page itself is down?
Then the monitor is down too, whatever the keyword. A keyword monitor checks the page answers properly before it looks for the words, so it does the job of a website monitor as well.
Does keyword monitoring affect my website statistics?
Not in JavaScript-based analytics such as Google Analytics: Mon's checks don't run JavaScript, so they are never counted as visits. They do appear in your web server's own logs, like any other request.
Can I watch many pages for the same words?
Yes. Paste a list of URLs - one per line, or straight from a spreadsheet - with the keyword, and Mon adds a monitor for each, skipping any you already watch.
