Plans and billing
How Mon's plans are sized, what each level adds, and how paying, changing plan, cancelling and SMS credits work.
Plans
Mon's plans are sized by how many monitors they can run at once. Every check, every email alert and all the history are included - see pricing for what each plan costs.
| Plan | Monitors | Checked as often as | SMS a month | Status pages | Maintenance windows | People |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Free | 5 | Every 5 minutes | - | 2 | 2 | 1 |
| Solo | 10, 25, 50 or 100 | Every minute | 2 to 20 | 3 | 5 | 1 |
| Team | 200, 250, 300 or 400 | Every minute | 30 to 45 | 10 | 10 | 3 to 4 |
| Enterprise | 500, 1,000, 2,000 or 5,000 | Every minute | 50 to 500 | 50 | 20 | 5 to 10 |
The number of contacts and team members grows with the plan too. Some monitor types are always checked less often, whatever the plan - see How checks work.
What each level adds
- Every plan, Free included: email, Slack and webhook alerts; status pages; maintenance windows; SSL checks on website monitors; commercial use; and support by email and tickets.
- Solo: SMS alerts; Trace Route, Defacement and Synthetic monitors; and custom HTTP headers, status codes and authentication on website monitors.
- Team: other people in your team, and the API, at 60 requests a minute.
- Enterprise: integrations with Namecheap, Amazon Route 53 and Azure DNS, DNS Zone monitors, which read a zone through one, and the API at 300 requests a minute.
Each level includes everything in the one before. Billing › Change Plan compares them all, feature by feature.
Paying monthly or yearly
Every paid plan can be paid monthly or yearly, and paying yearly costs less. The smallest Solo plans can only be paid yearly. Switch between Monthly and Annual on Change Plan to see both prices.
Payments are taken by card through Stripe, and a plan renews by itself on the date shown under Billing. Mon never sees or keeps your card details. To change the card, choose Update payment method on the Overview tab.
Buying or changing a plan
Buying, changing or cancelling a plan takes write access to billing, which of the preset roles only the Owner has. Everyone else in the team can see the plan and its invoices.
- On Change Plan, pick a plan and its size, and choose Upgrade, Downgrade or Choose plan.
- Enter or confirm your Billing Address. It's printed on your invoices.
- Check the order under Review & Confirm and choose Confirm and pay. A card already on file is charged; otherwise Stripe asks for one.
The new plan starts as soon as the payment goes through. An order left unpaid has to be finished or cancelled, under Orders or at checkout, before you can start another.
Moving from one paid plan to another charges the new one in full, and refunds the part of the old one you hadn't used yet, in proportion to the time left in its period - all of it if you'd used less than a tenth. If you move to a dearer plan within 7 days of buying the old one, what you paid for the old one comes off the new one's price instead.
Moving to a smaller plan
- More monitors than the new plan allows - Free's 5 included: the newest ones are paused, marked Paused: over the plan's monitor limit. Moving to a bigger plan again resumes them, oldest first, as far as the new plan has room.
- Monitors checked more often than the plan allows are slowed to the plan's fastest interval.
- A monitor type the plan doesn't include is paused, with the reason shown on the monitor.
- Settings the plan doesn't include, such as custom headers, keep working, but the monitor can't be saved again until they're removed.
Cancelling
Choose Cancel subscription on the Overview tab and say why. Your plan stays active until the end of the period you've paid for, then the team moves to the Free plan. Nothing more is charged, and the time already paid for isn't refunded.
SMS credits
Each SMS alert, and each verification code sent to a new SMS contact, uses credits: 1 for most countries, and up to 5 for a few where texts cost more. The cost is shown before a verification code is sent. A monthly plan adds its month's credits with each payment; a yearly plan adds twelve months' worth at once. Credits left are shown on the Overview tab, and every text sent is listed under Alerts › SMS.
The Free plan has no SMS. Moving from a paid plan to Free turns the team's SMS contacts off, and they stay off until you're on a paid plan and turn them back on.
Invoices
Every payment raises an invoice, listed under Invoices with what's been paid and refunded in all. Download PDF saves one; a refunded invoice also has Download credit note. The Address tab holds the billing address your invoices go to.
